Hello, I'm currently constructing a deep body L-00 (mah/adi) from a Mark Swanson plan and I was wondering what everybody's opinion was in regards to omitting one of the lower braces. I have seen examples of both on the forum and since I build 'em for myself and family I may experiment with one just for the experience. Thoughts? |

I was referring to one of the lower tone braces? I was kind of using a photo posted by Lars Rasmussen in the archives called "the cousin from the country; 0028" as a reference. I searched under "ziricote" to find it. |

L-OOs are already braced on the light side so if it's really important to you to omit a tone bar I would at least throw in a few diamonds across the center line where the top plates are joined. What's always on my mind when I hear a question such as this is what is it that you are trying to achieve by the modification? And how will you measure your results and define success? |
